Fancy holiday parties have a way of turning into adult proms– complete with pre-arranged hair appointments, floor length gowns, and awkward couples photos in front of cheesy metallic backgrounds. I’m not naming any events in particular, cough–Margarita Ball–cough, but the overwhelming high school nostalgia just makes me smile. Regardless of the occasion, I’m incredibly particular about which products are used on my skin, so I forego the professional makeup artist (not the hair stylist– I’ll outsource that task any day) and do the work myself. My go-to holiday look is simple yet glamorous, and thanks to the NEUTROGENA makeup I picked up at Walmart, it doesn’t make my ultra sensitive skin break out. Check out my easy holiday makeup tutorial below to recreate the look yourself.

Every artist needs a blank canvas to work effectively, so start out with fresh clean skin. I apologize for looking like a zombie below. In case you couldn’t tell, I didn’t get very much sleep the night before this photo was taken.

Apply HD foundation and highlight/conceal where desired. Liberally brush on translucent powder to create a smooth matte look. NEUTROGENA Shine Control Powder, which is formulated with an exclusive Rice Protein Complex to instantly absorb oil for up to 8 hours without over-drying skin, does the job flawlessly for under $12.

Fill in your eyebrows for a dramatic look that draws more attention to your eyes.

Create a gorgeous, long-lasting smoky eye using NEUTROGENA Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer in Smoky Steel 30. This product is great because it features an easy-to-follow color diagram on the back of the compact, includes a built-in primer to prevent creasing, and gives up to 12 hours of rich, nourishing color.

Use a black liner to line both lids of your eye. I use NEUTROGENA Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black 10, which retails at Walmart for around $9. Extend the bottom lid line about two centimeters further and connect to the upper line for a dramatic cat eye.

Apply a lash-enhancing mascara, like NEUTROGENA Healthy Volume Mascara, to finish your glamorous holiday eyes with up to 400% fuller lashes. No messy false lashes necessary.

For the pièce de résistance, I traded in my traditional matte red lip for NEUTROGENA MoistureSmooth Color Sticks in Sweet Watermelon 30 to create a glamorous and shimmery pink lip. The MoistureSmooth Color Sticks are without a doubt my favorite NEUTROGENA product. The formula, which includes an epic combination of mango and Shea butter, continuously conditions your lips, so they’re softer and smoother in just 3 days– even without having anything on them.

Love the look you achieved and the photographs you used really show the process. I appreciate that because it makes it so much easier to duplicate it myself. You look lovely both with and without makeup!
