Fashion is all about taking risks. Although I know it to be true, it’s not a philosophy I always apply when curating a seasonal wardrobe. Traditionally, my style is classic and conservative, so a super tight, bright red one piece jumpsuit doesn’t really fall within those parameters. However, when I saw this gorgeous Adelyn Rae red dressy jumpsuit on sale, I couldn’t pass it up. Something compelled me to push order. Especially given the upcoming lineup of holiday cocktail parties, I’m so glad I did. I’ve never so sophisticated-ly festive in my life!

This red wide leg jumpsuit features a flattering cross halter top and fun wide-legged pants. It’s available in both black and red, but I had to have the red. I call it my power jumpsuit. Even though it’s perfect for the holidays, I can see myself wearing it all year long. Maria Sharapova, one of my favorite modelesque tennis champions, once said, “I want to be different. If everyone is wearing black, I want to be wearing red.” So, my new style mantra for the new year is to wear red. Regardless of how you feel about the color itself, I encourage you to be the one wearing red, too. Be bold. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Both literally and figuratively speaking, we could all use a red dressy jumpsuit in our closets, don’t you think? Head to the bottom of this post for full outfit details!

It’s worth mentioning that accessorizing a jumpsuit can be tough. If the pants aren’t quite floor-length, the best shoes to wear with a jumpsuit depend on the style. If you’re styling a wide leg jumpsuit for a special occasion, like a swanky holiday party, let the clothing shine with nude ankle strap sandals or classic black peep-toe heels, like these black peep toe bow pumps. Closed-toed shoes can look awkward if the pants aren’t long enough, so I recommend sticking to open and/or peep toes if you can.

If you’re into more casual jumpsuit fashion, the best shoes to wear with a jumpsuit are most likely classy flats, sneakers, or sandals. The same can also be true for dressy jumpsuit fashion, as well (minus the sneakers). In fact, to avoid hunting for different heels that look good with different lengths, consider tailoring your casual or professional jumpsuits to floor length. From experience, I can confirm that it makes the shoe selection process a breeze.
