Who’s excited for Thanksgiving break? One of my all-time favorite traditions is picking out our tree on the morning of Black Friday and decorating it with a big warm cup of Santa’s White Christmas and a full day’s lineup of the best Christmas movies of all time. Ever since I was little (and by little, I mean in middle school), my friends and I would spend every weekend at the movie theater. To feel more mature, we would always grab Barnie’s coffee after. The first time I ever had Santa’s White Christmas, I fell in love. It’s since become the only coffee I’ll drink during the holidays. Flavored with notes of coconut, caramel, and roasted nuts, it tastes like Christmas in a cup.

Since the always-epic Black Friday is only a few days away, I wanted to do a special post about the best Christmas movies of all time. There are so many classics; it’s honestly hard to choose only 10. I’m still going to try. Here are my picks for the top 10 best Christmas movies of all time.

The 10 Best Christmas Movies of All Time

10. To Grandmother’s House We Go

Okay, if you’ve never watched it, refrain from judgement. Yes, the acting is… um, entertaining, and yes, it’s a made-for-TV movie. Nevertheless, it’s fun and will 100% put you in the holiday spirit. Also, fun fact– Jerry Van Dyke and Rhea Perlman are in this, and Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin make cameos!

9. All I Want for Christmas

This is another movie I used to watch on repeat when I was little. It was never a big blockbuster. In fact, I’m pretty sure I found it in the clearance bin at Blockbuster (throw back). It’s just always stuck with me. All I Want for Christmas is about a brother and sister trying to get their parents back together on Christmas, and it’s a lot of family-friendly fun. Also, a very petite Thora Birch stars in it… just a few years before her epic role as Dani in Hocus Pocus!

8. A Christmas Story

I was going to include this as an Honorable Mention, but Kyle yelled at me. He says it’s the ultimate holiday classic. Also, something about a BB gun. All kidding aside, TBS wouldn’t play A Christmas Story for 24 hours straight every year if it wasn’t worth watching!

Where to find it: Amazon, Paid Streaming, Cable (TBS)

7. Love Actually

I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes! I challenge you to watch Love Actually all the way through and not have those lyrics stuck in your head. Also, I challenge you to not want to marry Hugh Grant and/or Colin Firth afterwards, as well.

6. The Santa Clause

I really enjoy The Santa Clause, but it’s my mom’s all-time favorite Christmas movie. Tim Allen plays the all-time greatest sassy Santa after the real deal falls off his roof. He (unwillingly) inherits the suit, and it’s pretty hilarious. The 2nd and 3rd Santa Clause movies weren’t nearly as good, but the original is holiday gold.

5. Elf

If you don’t see at least 25 hilarious gifs of Will Ferrell as Buddy in December, are you even on Facebook? This holiday classic is as sweet as it is hilarious. Also, you’ll probably want to try syrup on your spaghetti after watching.

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The cartoon is a classic, but the Jim Carrey version is the version I watch over and over again in December. Plus, this is one of the only Christmas movies that’s currently streaming on Netflix. Take advantage of it while you can!

3. Jingle All The Way

Arnold screaming, “I’m not a pervert!” will forever be one of my favorite holiday lines. Also, I’d consider Sinbad’s role as the sassy mailman to be some of his all-time best work.

2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

I had the hardest time deciding if this should be #1 or #2. I chose #2 because I can quote Home Alone better than I can quote Christmas Vacation. Still, a very large (and weird) part of me wishes I was part of the Griswald Family. I secretly hope that one day Kyle will turn into a blonde version of Chevy Chase sans the temper.

1. Home Alone

Keep the change, ya filthy animal. I’ve never been able to decide which Home Alone I love more, so this is a 2-for-1 recommendation. Both Home Alone and Home Alone 2 are holiday masterpieces– and both deserve prominent placement on your television this holiday season.

Honorable Mentions: I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas, While You Were Sleeping, A Charlie Brown Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life

I know I’ll probably receive some verbal backlash for including so many classics as Honorable Mentions, and that’s okay. Everybody has different tastes– and mine happen to align with those of a sassy preteen. A sassy preteen with really good taste in coffee. If you’ve never tried Santa’s White Christmas, I’m not kidding– you need to. I turned Kyle on to it last year while we were living in Maine, and now he’s just as obsessed as I am. You can grab it online here and in stores.
