Changing my hair color 18ish times over the past 2 years has become a resident joke among my family and friends. “So, what do you collect? Besides hair colors.” “I forgot if you were blonde or brunette today.” To be fair, the mockery is well deserved. As a former pageant girl, my poor hair has paid the price for my capriciousness. Although I’m fairly confident I’ll stick with my natural dark brown color, I recognize that I need to handle it with white gloves. My go-to salon brand has always been Nexxus, so when I saw that an Emergencee Reconstructive System for damaged hair was available, I took it as God telling me to comfort my newly-colored hair by trying these products.

The Nexxus Emergencee Reconstructive System is formulated with concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and Marine Collagen. In layman’s terms, it’s made with two fancy pants ingredients for breathing responsiveness and resilience into damaged hair. The Nexxus Emergencee regimen alleges to actively repair the internal structure of fibers and leave hair looking and feeling strong.

Nexxus Emergencee Line Review

The Nexxus Emergencee shampoo and conditioner are downright wonderful. All the harmful dyes and pageant-worthy thermal styling have produced more split ends than I ever thought possible, so when my hair is wet, it’s usually virtually impossible to brush it out. Based on my hair dresser’s recommendation, I bought a new wet brush, have vowed to only wash my hair 2-3 times per week, and let the Emergencee conditioner sit for 2+ minutes. My hair feels stronger, looks more radiant, and is so much easier to manage.

What makes this regimen especially effective, in my opinion, is the concentrated protein Reconstructing Treatment. Nexxus stylists designed a 4-step process to yield the absolute best results for chemically treated hair. They recommend using one treatment per week. You can buy each tube individually or you can purchase a 4-count pack. After four weeks of use, I saw/felt instantly improved manageability, less breakage, and increased shine. My results were definitely reason to smile, especially given all the torture my hair has endured.

How to Use the Nexxus Emergencee Line

  1. Start by freeing you hair of excess oil with the Nexxus Emergencee Shampoo.
  2. Completely cover your head with one tube of Nexxus Emergencee Reconstructing Treatment. Work it through your wet hair. Don’t worry if its texture leaves your hair feeling stiff and coarse (I admit that it freaked me out). I googled it, and this apparently just means that the treatment is working hard to nourish with protein. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then rinse it out with lukewarm water.
  3. Shampoo your hair again to remove any leftover residue.
  4. Condition with Nexxus Emergencee Conditioner to retain moisture and softness.

Where to Purchase the Nexxus Emergencee Line

You can shop all the products featured in this post below! I purchase all my Nexxus products from Target, since it’s usually cheaper than Amazon or Ulta. You can also purchase directly from Nexxus.com, but shipping can get pretty costly.

Before you haul yourself into a high-end hair salon and pay for an expensive protein or keratin treatment, do yourself (and your hair) a favor and try the Nexxus Emergencee line. My hair has never felt stronger, and it’s completely changed the way I feel about thermal styling. It’s rich, healthy, and finally able to handle the voluntary wear and tear of voluminous curls and teased up-do’s. Freaking finally.

I really like the sound of the reconstructing treatment! I’ve never heard of a product like that going hard on your hair but if it works, it works! Really great in depth review. I’m gonna have a look online and see if it’s available over here. I keep wanting to dye my hair again but I worry about the damage, this might be my saviour!
