We’re in the heart of college football season, you guys! Mizzou’s homecoming is actually this weekend, so I figured now would be an appropriate time to discuss game day makeup. I seriously doubt I’m the only one who breaks out like crazy from sunny southern tailgates. I want to look cute, so I wear a full face of makeup and spend an hour picking out an outfit. Then, like clockwork, dehydration, sweat, and sun exposure compound, and I always end up with a nasty break out the next morning. My skin is both oily combination and acne prone, so I’ve learned that I need to be extra careful in selecting only the very best makeup for acne prone skin. I spotted the new Neutrogena Skin Clearing makeup at CVS, and per its name, I had to give it a try.

So, what’s so special about this new line? A lot of things. Neutrogena Skin Clearing makeup covers up and helps prevent breakouts while you wear it. It’s perfect for those scorching hot game days, when you want to look and feel your best, but you don’t want to risk a break out. Developed by dermatologists, their oil-free formulas control shine and won’t clog pores. This makeup goes on light, provides awesome coverage (even for women with hyperpigmentation like me), and actively protects against break outs. If you suffer from acne, check out my tried-and-true game day makeup routine below!

When it comes to the best makeup for acne prone skin, it’s hard to beat Neutrogena Skin Clearing Makeup. It may be my favorite drugstore foundation of all time. Formulated for acne-prone skin, it is the first and only liquid makeup foundation with Micro-Clear technology that not only treats blemishes, but also helps prevent emerging acne breakouts for clearer skin. Seriously, where was this stuff when I was 13?!

Shake before using. I don’t like using brushes to apply foundation (it’s a phobia many girls with acne-prone skin have), so I apply it with my clean fingers. For reference, I’m using Buff- 30.

After the concealer is evenly applied, I cover any acne-affected areas with a thin layer of Neutrogena Skin Clearing Blemish Concealer. It helps conceal blemishes while simultaneously helping clear them up. For reference, I’m wearing Buff- 09. This concealer can be applied up to 3 times per day, which is convenient for quick touch-ups in between cornhole games. Excess dryness is common, so start out with one application per day.

Oh, and how fun is this pen-style packaging? It’s super convenient for throwing in your bag without having to worry about leaks or spills.

Next, I keep potential shine under control with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder. Containing minerals plus Micro-Clear technology with salicylic acid acne treatment, this non-comedogenic formula works to clear and help prevent breakouts while being gentle to skin.

For reference, I apply with a plush powder brush, and I’m using Buff- 30.

Once the breakout threat is neutralized, I make sure my eyes and lips can survive the sweat/ heat, too. Let’s be honest– nothing is worse than looking in the mirror and realizing your eyeliner has dripped all the way down to your cheek bones. I use Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black on my upper and lower lash lines to guarantee that it stays put. Its creamy formula glides on smoothly and lasts all day without budging.

To finish off my look, I apply Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Soft Raspberry-60. Although Soft Raspberry is my go-to for game days, I own the entire Color Stick line. The formula instantly moisturizes your lips and lasts for hours. It’s amazing.

I keep this Color Stick in my pocket and apply throughout the tailgate. It keeps my lips continuously conditioned, so they’re softer and smoother all day.
